(10/28/2006) Recently BMA boss Law Kit Sing invested in the film
HEAVENLY MISSION (TIN HUNG JEH), which has entered a promotional period.
Only leads Dior Cheng Yi Kin and Niki Chow Lai Kei have appeared. The
other leads Stephen Fung Tak Lun, Alex Fong Chung SHun and Julian Cheung
Chi Lam have been absent, which led to rumors that Law Kit Sing was upset.
Law Kit SIng admitted that he was disillusioned. "This film has
used a lot of resources. In the final step before the release, they don't
help with the promotion. The cast and crew have worked very hard. Not
promoting really affects the movie and reduces its buzz. I hope everyone
will help out."
Fung Tak Lun through his company expressed that he has been
looking at locations in Mainland with Stephen Chow Sing Chi and only
received the notice to promote several days ago. He has been working on
his schedule to attend. Fong Chung Shun has been working on a television
series in France. In November 4 he has to go to Shunde for other work.
He would like to promote but he has agreed to work on the series first.
He stressed that he will definitely appear at the premiere. Cheung Chi
Lam has been working on a series in Hangzhou.

(10/25/2006) Niki Chow Lai Kei has been busy with her TVB series.
Yesterday she took time to promote HEAVENLY MISSION (TIN HUNG JEH). Niki
said, "Doing 4 interviews in a row isn't tough, but I have to find
memory from making the movie. The most unforgettable is when (Stephen)
Fung Tak Lun dumps me. I was tied up by the pier and cried horribly. On
one hand my face was covered in tears and on the other the rope was
bruising my wrists. Because of all the emotions, the taping the next day
had to be rescheduled." Was she ignoring her singer image? "The
director also said that I was very bad. Originally I had to use foul
language to yell at Fung Tak Lun, but due to the censors the lines had to
be changed." Niki said that she knew foul language and would not say she
did not how to use it, but ordinarily she would not suddenly use it.

In order to continue shooting TVB newest series, Niki Chow only took one day off to promote her new movie “Skywalker”. Niki said: “It is not really hard work doing four interviews consecutively as I only had to recollect some memories of filming the movie. The most memorable scene was when Stephen Fung abandoned me. I was tied at the dock and cried fearfully, my face was full of tears and snivel. My wrist was also wounded by scrubbing the jute rope. I also had to shout and howl loudly. In the end, they had to reschedule the next day’s shooting.” Shouldn’t you be looking after your singer’s image? “The director also told me it was weakened down. Originally, I had to use foul words to agitate Stephen. However, in the end the dialogues were changed in order to pass the censorship.” Niki smiled that she knew how to use foul words, but she will not suddenly say them in daily life.

Niki Chow Screams and Cries for Stephen Fung
Niki Chow who has been working for TVB, yesterday took time off to work on the promotion of her new movie, ‘天行者’. She commented, “I have done 4 interviews in a row. But it isn’t that hard because all I have to talk about is the memories I have on this movie. The most memorable scene was the one when Stephen Fung breaks up with me. I was standing at the port crying, my face was filled with tears and snot. Also, my hands were all scratched. As I had to scream and yell for the scene, I lost my voice, the filming on the next day had to be rescheduled. (Does it affect your singer image?) The director was very considerate. In the original script, I was suppose to yell out swear words at Stephen but after it was revised, I was no longer required to curse him.” She then disclosed that despite not wanting to swear, she finds such words slipping out of her mouth occasionally.

(9/19/2006) Stephen Fung Tak Lun yesterday attended a UNICEF press
conference. Earlier reportedly Stephen Chow Sing Chi introduced Zhang
Yuqi to Fung Tak Lun and talked about working together. He pointed out
that Sing Yeh wrote a screenplay that he was not at liberty to discuss,
but he would like to be able to start production within the year. He
will direct and Chow Sing Chi will produce. As for whether Zhang Yuqi will
perform, he expressed that he did not want to say. Will Karen Morris (Mok
Man Wai) participate? He said that no casting has been done. Will he
feel awkward about working with his girlfriend's former boyfriend? He
immediately said, "I won't talk about it! In the end I won't feel
awkward."
People who have worked with Chow Sing Chi often end up in
disputes with him. Fung Tak Lun expressed that he has been with him for
half a year and felt that he was not hard to deal with. He was someone
who is practical. He pointed out that he even stipulated that sometimes
he would say things that were for the better and asked him not to mind how
he would say them. He also expressed that he was a director and an actor
who he admired. Reporters pointed out that usually after the
collaboration problems started. He said that the questions were too
sensitive. Since they are both Stephen how would anyone tell them apart?
He joked that Sing Yeh had more white hair, all of which was trained.

When asked if she and Stephen Fung were soon to walk the red carpet, she replied, “Already have! Last time at the Hong Kong Film Awards we did!” Karen then continued on to say that she will go with the flow with marrying matters.
Karen ditched her normal sexy look for a unisex outfit at yesterday’s press conference. Last time, boyfriend, Stephen, was her guest performer, when asked if Stephen will again perform at her concert, Karen stated that she has not invited him because he is too good looking. Karen expressed that it is best not to invite good looking guest performers and especially since Stephen is a director, he should not sing.

《天行者》 is currently filming in Thailand. The temperature is very hot in excess of 30C. Ekin,Stephen Fung and Alex Fong, filmed a gun battle fight scene in a local abandoned train station. Ekin is threatened by Stephen in an assassination scene. Stephen needed to wear leather shirt, which of course made him perspire. Reports indicated that real guns were used in the scene. The three had studied seriously how to fire the guns.
The female lead 胡静 is collaborating with Ekin for the first time, she has also kept in mind his news, she didn't feel that Ekin showed any effect of being hurt by his break - up with his girlfriend in addition she praised his appearance as very handsome, but she emphasized that she merely admired his film record. She was not leaning to admire him, filming except for everyone is individual, difficult to produce a love spark. Ekin said that night's filming was the first time he met 胡静, so right now he didn't have any special feeling, however she had said his mandarin was not bad, and that increased his confidence.
Ekin has parted with his girlfriend, and that has caused Alex Fong to also yearn for single man's freedom, he said that if he went out for a meal with other women, the press would make it very troublesome, but Ekin can do it now and not have to explain too much. However, Stephen retorted that Ekin often stays at home so he doesn't admire it that much. However, earlier on the internet it was spread that Stephen's girlfriend 莫文蔚 has a blood scar on her back caused by Stephen's cruel treatment of her. This state of affairs is serious and it has hurt his image, he has decided to let his attorney deal with it, Stephen said he was not this kind of man but clearly this was a personal attack, he still he knew some people would believe these nonsense rumors.
BMA boss 罗杰承 said that the company would invest in three movies this year, mainly this was to support the BMA performers to have more performance opportunities. Although the home entertainment market is still not that good, nevertheless BMA plan to use the mainland market, compared to before, it is easier to grasp this market. He was full of praise for Ekin as a long standing veteran actor, and will arrange, even more work for him to help him restore his career.

Funt Tak Lun and Chow Lai Kei played a couple in the film. Niki
expressed that this time she played a very tolerant woman. Although her
boyfriend often yelled at her, she silently accepted it. She said that if
this happened in reality she would have left long ago.
Niki expressed, chauvinist was no big deal as long as they could
communicate. She even showed the press bruises on her right arm. She
joked that Fung Tak Lun gave them to her. When asked whether Fung Tak Lun
abused her, Niki joked that he did not hit her. She was tied up on a
pole, which bruised her arm. She said that this time she was not working
on an action film. She did not understand why she had bruises and Ekin
injured her waist. Did Niki and Fung Tak Lun have any love scene? She
expressed that earlier they shot a kiss scene. Because Fung Tak Lun had
facial hair, the feeling was "prickly". She said that it was the first
time that she kissed a man with facial hair.
As for Niki's complaint of being "pricked", Fung Tak Lun
without a clue said, "Really?" When he learned that she referred to his
facial hair, he said that the character required it. Niki also said that

chance to ask Brother Lung for his opinion? He expressed that it was his
first collaboration with Brother Lung, but they were very familiar. They

Stephen Fung promoting Nokia Mobile phones; talks about hit series "Stephen's Diary"
Stephen Fung was out alongside model Lisa S promoting Nokia Mobile Phones yesterday and Stephen even made some short clips with his phone of his four pet cats. He says that he often makes little clips of his cats for children, but he does not make anything sexual. He goes on to praise the functions of the phone, saying that the best thing is when he goes looking for locations, he can immediately video it, without the need for a camera. As the clips from phones are becoming clearer and clearer, is he worried that he will be secretly filmed in the street and this be published on the web? He says that this is unavoidable and sometimes he is still filmed when he is at home.
Stephen's hit TVB series "Stephen's Diary" has an episode where he gets Miriam Yeung drunk, but he denies that he did this because Miriam can take her drink well and is not so easy to get drunk. There is a funny story around the series though, as people have tried to call the number of the mobile phone featured on the show to try and contact guest stars Miriam and Shu Qi. However, the phone actually belongs to the Production Assistant for the show, so Stephen hopes that people will stop disturbing him.

DUELING A BETTER TOMRROW REMAKES
A famous Korean executive producer's production company has
announced the successful aquisition of A BETTER TOMORROW (YING HUNG BOON
SIK)'s remake rights from a Hong Kong media company and planned to invest
US$10 million next year on the project. The cast will be all Korean, with
Jang Dong-Gun, Lee Byung-Hun and Jung Woo-Sung all in the running.
This news item was the latest development in the Hong Kong
entertainment page coverage of the A BETTER TOMORROW remake story. Yet
earlier the remake with director Stephen Fung Tak Lun and Andy Lau Tak Wa
has been making deals at the Cannes Film Festival. Thus dueling remakes
may be likely.
Reportedly Fung Tak Lun has teamed with Universe to work on YING
HUNG BOON SIK, then Mei Ah claimed that it will work with Korea on the
film. Later, another media company published a statement that it owned
the rights to the film and without authorization no one can announce its
remake right ownership. Actually Director Fung refers to the 1966 Lung
Kong directed STORY OF A DISCHARGED PRISONER and but the 1986 John Woo (Ng
Yu Sum) directed A BETTER TOMORROW. Thus basically there is no conflict.
As for whether Ng Yu Sum's version has purchased Lung Kong's version
remake rights no one knows.
Lung Kong's STORY OF A DISCHARGED PRISONER was his second as a
director. Its fierce style and quick pace made it a good film. The story
is about a discharged prisoner (Patrick Tse Yin) who wants to work
legitimately after prison but runs into trouble everywhere. It is very
educational. Although the subject is correct the characters are not
superficial as they transcend time. Thus Tsui Hark and Ng Yu Sum 20 years
ago remade the film. With the background at the time it turned into a
classic romantic hero film.
Any director who wants to make YING HUNG BOON SIK now has to come
up with new ideas, otherwise the subject is wasted. The lead of Lung
Kong's version is Ng Yu Sum's Brother Ho (the prisoner). Mark Gor is Ng
Yu Sum's mix of several Lung Kong characters. Kit Jai (Leslie Cheung
Kwok Wing) is a Lung Kong supporting player (Wong Wai). The first version
has Ho as the lead. The second version has Mark as the lead. The third
version can have Kit Jai as the lead. This idea works because A BETTER
TOMRROW has not only captured Korea for years, but most middle age people
can hum Cheung Kwok Wing's theme song DONG NIN CHING. Kit Jai has left
a very deep impression with the Korean viewers.
A Korean A BETTER TOMORROW runs into two problems. The first is
Koreans as Chinese film leads are not too attractive to Chinese viewers in
the greater Chinese region. The second is playing classic film
characters, actors will find pleasing viewers who like the original hard to
please. Chow Yun Fat's other classic THE BUND (SEHUNG HOI TAN)
(television series) has been remade (film and television) over and over.
Aside from Chow Yun Fat, who else has played Hui Man Keung may not be
easy to remember. If this remake only focuses on the Korean local market
then the story is different. - TIN LIK

(5/12/2006) Stephen Fung Tak Lun has always been interested in remaking
the 60's Lung Kong directed STORY OF A DISCHARGED PRISONER (YING HUNG BOON
SIK) and earlier has already purchased the film rights. Currently he has
been busy with looking for investors. Reportedly Andy Lau Tak Wa has not
only agreed to invest but also to perform. Yesterday Wa Jai honestly
admitted that Fung Tak Lun has contacted him but nothing has been
confirmed. He said that he was very interested in the screenplay and
hoped that the collaboration will be a success. The film will start
production soon and the poster will be placed in Cannes to test the
reaction.
Wa Jai pointed out that Fung Tak Lun has brought Lung Kong's
screenplay for him to look over. Wa Jai felt it was an exciting
script and was interested in performing. However because the financing
was high, even if Wa Jai was willing to invest he would not be the big
boss. It may be a co-production with other companies.
With the Lung Kong directed and Patrick Tse Yin starred version
and the John Woo (Ng Yu Sum) directed, Chow Yun Fat, Leslie Cheung Kwok
Wing and Ti Lung starred 80's version A BETTER TOMORROW, was Wa Jai
afraid of comparison? He said, "The definition of a hero in the 60s
was family comes first. In the 80s, valuing relationship and honor was
hero. In 2000 how does the hero turn out, I believe everyone want to
watch that. Every era is different and shouldn't be compared." As for
which character he wants to play, Wa Jai said that nothing has been
settled. Perhaps he will play an all new Mark Gor hero character, but
he hoped that this collaboration will come to fruition.

screening. Ho Kin Yip earlier has already passed away. Stephen pointed
out that when he bought the rights he went to Singapore to look for him.
He pointed out that he was the last artist to see him. When asked how
much he has spent, he said, "It is a very valuable price. I feel it's a
bargain." Stephen revealed that the film will start production at the end
of the year. He pointed out that he has already cast a superstar to play
Sei Gor's character. He will only direct. Also, Stephen appeared with
his girlfriend at the Hong Kong Film Award. Has he publicized his
relationship? He said, "That just represents our joy. Being nominated
together we are also very happy!" Unfortunately Stephen lost the New
Director Award. That night the host Eric Tsang Chi Wai jokingly urged
him to wed for good luck. Stephen said, "One step at a time. First we
hold hands, then we kiss. Now we still haven't kissed yet."

ABOUT LUNG KONG : STORY OF A DISCHARGED PRISONER
As YING HUNG BOON SIK remakes have become conflicting, the chance
to be able to see the original STORY OF A DISCHARGED PRISONER (YING HUNG
BOON SIK) indeed is very meaningful.
This STORY OF A DISCHARGED PRISONER (1967) is Patrick Lung Kong
written and directed and different from John Woo (Ng Yu Sum)'s film of the
same Chinese title. Although Ng Yu Sum remade it due to Lung Kong's
influence, Lung Kong's version has heavy social commentary and social
education flavor. The prodigal son due to circumstances has no way to
return. The originally gentle people under the imperfect social standard
suffer as two brothers' love is expressed; Ng Yu Sum's is a story of the
police and the mob, which describes the relationship between three men
(Chow Yun Fat, Ti Lung, and Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing). Among them Chow
Yun Fat's Mark Gor image is deeply memorable. Ng Yu Sum with this film
solidified his violent art film style, which has been very influential in
films internationally. Thus now when people mentioned YING HUNG BOON SIK,
they refer to Ng Yu Sum's version. Few knows about Lung Kung's version.
Because of that though, remaking Ng Yu Sum's version, especially
in how to interpret the relationship between these three men again and
whether it can exceed the perfect team of the past, is not easy at all.
Thus this Hong Kong and Korean co-production with Jang Dong-Gun, Louis Koo
Tin Lok and Rain has caught extra attention.
In comparison, Stephen Fung Tak Lun's remake of Lung Kong's
version has even greater room for development. In addition Lung Kong's
work has always had a solid screenplay and clear theme as the foundation.
Of course Fung Tak Lun's changes and new element addition and the cast
will determine how the film turns out.

Stephen Fung Admits Living Together with Karen Mok
Stephen Fung Tak Lun has become a recent victim of the paparazzi taking unauthorized photos of him at home. A tabloid magazine recently published photos of Stephen kissing Karen Mok Man Wai in his kitchen.
At a press conference for his new series, "Old Fung's Diary" 《老馮日記》, Stephen did not exhibit an angry attitude towards the magazine's publications of his photos with Karen.
Rather, Stephen laughed and humorously said that this was a good opportunity for his relationship with Karen to be revealed publicly. Stephen admitted indirectly that he has been living together with Karen and that most of the tabloid's content is true.
Tabloids ran the tagline that Stephen was eating "forbidden fruit" in the kitchen with Karen Mok. "It's rather helpless. Since I was eating apples in the kitchen, they wrote that I was eating 'forbidden fruit.' But the majority of the contents of the tabloid article are true." With this statement, he indirectly acknowledged that Karen was his live-in girlfriend.
Stephen said that he feels rather helpless that his photos at home have been revealed. But he can only close the blinds in his study and bedroom. Stephen joked and said that he will not be buying a luxury home, as there is no scenery to enjoy.
Stephen wrote the screenplay and directed his new series, "Old Fung's Diary." Stephen will also be acting in the series himself. TVB has bought the rights to broadcast this new series. The series also guest stars many of Stephen's real-life friends, such as Karen, Gigi Leung Wing Kei, Josie Ho Chiu Yee, and Chan Chi Chung. Stephen also indicated that the series contains many story arcs based on his own life.
